A Kid from Ely, Beaver’s Pond Press, 2016
When this author first spoke with me about his book, he wanted to put a historic map of Ely, Minnesota on the front cover. But, when he gave me a handful of family photos for the interior, one of them happened to be an incredibly charming photo of himself as a kid. When I turned in the cover concepts with the map idea…I also included one with the childhood photo. He loved it. We ended up using the Ely map on the back cover. I smile whenever I see this cover. What a cute kid!
