Warda: My Journey from the Horn of Africa to a College Education, Beaver’s Pond Press, 2020
For this memoir, the author and her team wanted to do an illustrated cover, with art that referenced henna body art. Using the reference materials they provided, I came up with three concepts, all featuring thick inks, dense with patterns and florals. We refined it from there, settling on a design that prominently featured a single rose (the name “Warda” means “rose.”).
For the book’s interior, I drew thirty spot illustrations, one for each new chapter.
